In October of 2015, I suffered a major injury to my left knee while playing basketball. When I consulted with my doctor, I learned that I tore my ACL, MCL, and meniscus. After my surgery in December of 2015 and a year of recovery, I decided it was time that I get serious about strengthening my body to not only better my overall health, but to prevent any injuries like this from occurring again. My main concern was returning to the previous quality of life that I had known prior to my injury.
In January of 2017, I decided to join goperformance because of all the recommendations from people I knew that had been going there for years. Little did I know that I wasn't joining a gym, but rather a family. Instantly as I started, everyone went out of their way to get to know me. The trainers in the gym wanted to know my goals and made a special effort to personalize the workouts to tailor to those goals. They focused on building strength in my left knee to ensure that we could restore it to full health. Not only did we restore it to full health, we pushed my body further than it ever had before. Everywhere I went people constantly commented on how much more in shape I was.
In the summer of 2017, I had an accident while wakeboarding and I thought I damaged my left knee again. I thought to myself, "surely this can't happen after all the work we've done". After having the knee examined, the doctor told me that had it have been anyone else, my knee would have certainly been severely damaged, but due to the strength I had built up in my legs and my overall fitness, I prevented a major injury. The doctor claimed that my physique was the only thing that prevented me from tearing my knee again and that I absolutely needed to continue training the way I was.
I can’t express how grateful I am for all the guys at goperformance and fitness. Their expertise got me in the best shape of my life, strengthened previously injured areas, and helped prevent future injuries.
