Joseph Rampey

Joseph is a senior at Starr’s Mill High School where is the a thrower for the track team and a football player.  He’s committed to play football for Berry College in Rome, Georgia in the Fall.

Joseph is our selection for Athlete of the Month not only for his improvements but also his discipline and commitment.  He is dedicated to improving – he is committed to doing the hard work that other kids don’t want to do.  Joseph understands the importance of speed, movement and his ability to produce power.  When we are selecting the featured athletes of the month, we are looking for traits like coachability, respect, discipline and commitment.  Joseph embodies these things. These traits will serve him well in life.

Over the last six weeks, he has improved his 40 yard dash .6 seconds.  On his 5-10-5 he improved .4 seconds.  His change of direction and speed has improved a lot.  His L Con – improved by .4 seconds.

Joseph has also paid attention to his nutrition – his physique is changing.  He is putting on muscle mass and reducing body fat.  His plan is to play college football in the Fall of 2021.  With his zeal for training and improvement, he will be prepared physically and mentally to conquer his next endeavor athletically.

Joseph has been training off and on since middle school and it’s been fun to watch him grow, develop and mature.

Joseph is part of the work-based learning program through Starr’s Mill.

He is at the gym five days per week.  Joseph is always eager to help set up for a class, assists with day to day gym functions and will willingly perform any task without any push back.

From Mr. and Mrs. Rampey:

  • How long has Joseph been training (off/on) with goperformance?

    • Joseph has been training for 7 years at Go – as often as possible while playing multiple sports.

  • Why did you choose to send him to this training facility initially?

    • We like the gym’s focus of total fitness, core strength and speed – not only how much weight they can bench & squat.

  • What improvements specifically have you noticed in the past 6 months?

    • Personal confidence

    • Athletic confidence

    • Gaining muscle mass & definition

    • Improved feet movement/quickness

  • Describe how the training complements the practice and training he receives at the school.

    • The goperformance training does just that – complements & enhances the workouts at the school!  The workouts never interfered with school practices or training.  It has improved his quickness and overall speed.  It has really helped Joseph recover and get his confidence back after surgery on his ankle.

  • Is there anything else you would like to add about his experience at goperformance?

    • The classes offered through goperformance always worked well around his busy schedule.

    • We appreciate the individual attention shown by all the trainers at goperfomance

    • We love that Lane stays involved in the community by attending sporting events to watch his clients compete. We’ve seen him interact with all athletes – cheerleaders, track athletes, football players, etc.

    • We feel goperformance was an integral part of Joseph achieving his goal of playing football at the next level.

Joseph:

  • What improvements specifically have you noticed since training at goperformance?

    • I have noticed huge jumps in my speed, explosiveness, and all-around strength.

  • You work out with several athletes that you also play sports with – describe the camaraderie and experience that you have working out at 630am in the morning.

    • Doing the 6:30am workouts together brings in a feeling of family more than ever.  This helps us push each other farther than we thought possible.

  • What are your goals over the next 6 months?

    • My goals are to increase my speed and explosiveness.

  • Describe the training culture at goperformance.

    • The culture at goperformance can be described in one word: family. Through all my years at Go, there’s always someone there to spot me or have a great conversation with.

  • As our work based learning intern, you’ve had a behind the scenes look at coaching and training.  What have you learned from shadowing coaches and spending the weekday mornings at goperformance with our staff?

    • I have learned how much effort the coaches give to the clients and how much time they spend in order to have the gym we know and love today.  I personally wouldn’t have made it as far as I have without their time & effort.

  • Anything else you would like to add about your training and experience at goperformance?

    • I have gained friends & mentors and created bonds with the people in this gym.  I am thankful for all they do for me. Without Lane and the other coaches at Go, I wouldn’t have the chance to play college football.
