Logan Brooks

Our athlete of the month is McIntosh basketball player, Logan Brooks.

Logan is a guard at McIntosh and hopes to play at the next level.

From Logan:

  • What were your initial goals when starting at goperformance?  I went into goperformance looking to increase my strength, athleticism, and vertical.

  • What improvements have you noticed the most since training?  I have gained around 20 pounds of muscle, my vertical has gone up around 4-5 inches, and my core strength has increased dramatically.

  • What are you training goals for the next six months?  I want to be able to dunk a basketball consistently, and have no regrets that I prepared my body to play basketball at the college level.

  • Getting up for the 6:20am class as a teenager takes dedication, how do you stay motivated?  It was really tough at first.  I realized by getting the work done early I would have no excuses the rest of the day.   I really love seeing my athletic progress from this program.  I am getting stronger and feel so much better.  The program has boosted my confidence, changed by eating habits, my performance level in basketball, and I feel so much healthier outside of sports as well.

  • Anything else you’d like to add?  Thank you to the coaching staff at goperformance.  The staff has been so good to me, keeping me motivated, and staying on me in continuing to reach my goals.

From Mark Brown:

  • What prompted you to send Logan to goperformance?  I have coached youth sports for most of my adult life, 30 years in law enforcement, and SWAT command for 20 years, so physical fitness is a part of my life. Within two months of starting at goperformance I knew this would be perfect for Logan.  The program is measured which would allow Logan to reach his goals of increasing his strength and playing basketball at the next level.  I personally have lost 50 pounds in less than a year and dramatically increased my strength.

  • What training goals did you have in mind for him when he started?  Logan had the desire to increase his core strength, vertical, agility, and flexibility to prepare for this upcoming basketball season.  From my experience with goperformance, I knew this was the perfect program for him to be successful as the workouts are specifically designed for the person.  The extra classes, such as the Jump Sport Class, allowed Logan to concentrate on specific exercises to increase his jumping ability and vertical.

  • What have you noticed the most since he has been training with goperformance?  I have noticed that Logan’s confidence has increased dramatically, his work ethic, and his dedication to be in the best possible physical conditioning to be successful in his senior year of basketball. The motivation provided by goperformance to see a teenager get up at 5:30 AM, six days a week,  for almost 6 months to reach his goals was inspiring.  The individual programmed classes for increasing Logan’s jumping ability have made a difference and increased his vertical to date by five inches.

  • You and Logan come together to the gym, describe what it’s like getting to train with him?  We motivate each other to complete that “extra set” every day.  We build on each other’s weaknesses and motivate each other to keep working hard.

  • How do you think goperformance is different from other training facilities?  goperformance provides an environment to be successful in reaching your goals.  The coaches correct you quickly to ensure proper form to complete the exercise without causing injury.
