MADDIE RICE

Maddie is our athlete of the month due to her energy and her authentic desire to improve.

Maddie is in sixth grade at Booth Middle School. She plays for AFC Lightning where she plays back and wing.

From Maddie:

What do you enjoy about training at goperformance?

Everything!  I love the challenge and how the coaches push me to test my limits!

What were your goals when you started?

I wanted to get stronger and faster.

How has your performance improved since you started?

I am quicker getting the ball and I can change direction easier.  I don’t get pushed around on the soccer field any more – which I am very happy about!

What improvements have been really noticeable to you since you started training?

I feel tough!

What’s your favorite thing about training at goperformance?

Box jumps that are almost as tall as me!

What’s your favorite thing about playing soccer?

I love everything about soccer.  I love being part of a team and helping that team win!

What are your performance goals for the next 6 months?

Get even stronger and faster.  I’d like to be able to lift my own weight!

THE NUMBERS

10 Yard Dash – From 1.81 seconds to 1.71 seconds

20 Yard Dash – From 3.52 seconds to 3.19 seconds

From Maddie’s Parents:

Why did you choose goperformance for your daughter Maddie?

Maddie suffered a knee injury from soccer and needed to rehab and strengthen.  I love that goperformance really considered her knee and consulted with a physical therapist to properly address the issues.

What were her goals when she came to goperformance?

She wanted to get her strength and speed back after injury.

What improvements have you noticed since she’s been training?

Maddie has stopped limping and no longer fears taking or giving a hard tackle!

From Coach Lane

At such a young age, she demonstrates a strong work ethic.  She comes in and she’s ready to get to work. I enjoy working with her because she is a good listener, she moves well and she’s very coachable.  Maddie has a willingness to improve that you simply can’t teach. She’s has really improved in her strength. She came in with an injured knee and we have worked hard to address that.  She needed to get stronger and more agile. Our programs have been centered around those things. We’ve been working on speed and her 10 and 20 have improved. Overall, she’s stronger and faster.  She’s gone from an 8-kilogram kettlebell to a 16-kilogram kettlebell on her goblet squats and lunges. Her hamstrings are stronger which prevents further knee injuries.
