Wes Haney

Wes Haney is a rising senior at Starr’s Mill and is our May Athlete of the Month. He plays middle linebacker for the Panthers.

The Numbers:

Broad Jump: 8 feet 7 inches to 9 feet 1 inch

Clean Max: 225 pounds to 285 pounds

20 Yard: 2.89 seconds to 2.69 seconds

40 Yard: 5.1 seconds to 4.78 seconds

5-10-5: 4.3 seconds to 3.88 seconds

L Cone: 7.25 seconds to 6.75 seconds

From Coach Lane:

I chose Wes for the athlete of the month because he is hard-working and is eager to improve. When he walks in the gym, he is happy to be there. He is tenacious and works with a controlled aggression. He is a good leader and very disciplined. Wes is positive and uplifting to his teammates. When he comes to the gym, he’s ready to get to work. His performance numbers have improved and he’s gained nearly 20 pounds. Wes’ change of direction is remarkable. He holds the goperformance record for the fastest 5-10-5 and L-Cone drills. This year on the football field I hope he plays with the same level of tenacity that he brings to the gym. I hope that with his positivity and encouragement he can lead his team on the field his senior year.

From Wes:

What improvements have you noticed since training at goperformance?  Size and Strength gains, improved speed and quickness.

What do you enjoy the most about training here?   Getting to work with my teammates.

How does training at goperformance complement the training you do with your football team?  Lane does a good job communicating with our Coaches to make sure what we do at goperformance compliments our school workouts and vice versa.

What are your performance goals for the next 2 months preparing for football to start in August? Continue working with teammates and getting stronger and faster.

What, if anything, have your coaches noticed since you’ve been training at goperformance? The gained speed and quickness along with the weight gains. I began working out at goperformance this spring with a group of teammates and we have all benefited from Lane’s work with us. With the issue of Covid-19, the significance of being able to be with teammates and get stronger has made our time with Lane even more important.

From Mr. and Mrs. Haney:

What improvements have you noticed in Wes since he’s been training at goperformance? He has gotten faster and stronger.

How do you feel training at goperformance complements what they do at school? Lane and the coaching staff communicate to make sure they get the best results for the team and the individual kids.

Anything else you’d like to add? I am grateful to Lane and his staff for the effort they have put forth for Wes and his teammates and they have done this in some very difficult times which is even more impressive.  It has been a great fit the entire process.
